Visite guidée en anglais. In this Paris Cachée tour, we'll explore the fascinating and little-known history of the Monceau area in the 17th. We’ll begin by visiting the Parc Monceau, not merely a garden for relaxing and strolling, we'll discover its secret past as a venue for the pre-revolutionary aristocrat the Duc de Chartres to entertain his private guests. We’ll then drift further north, to the Plaine Monceau. Once fields beyond Paris, in the late 19th-century era of the Belle Epoque, the area became the most fashionable in the city, attracting industrialists, writers, artists, and socialites. We'll discover their "beautiful era" as we learn about its residents and lifestyle from the outside of their glamorous mansions.
Before or after the tour, you might like to visit one of the museums of the area, all set in mansions from the era: the Musée Jacquemart-André (advance reservations recommended), the Musée Jean-Jacques Henner (a fantastic former art studio-mansion) or the Musée Cernuschi (City of Paris Asian art museum - free).
You can register until Thursday, 27 March 2025 inclusive.
