Join us for an exclusive tour of the Château de Fontainebleau, nicknamed “The castle of all kings”, among ACP members and supporters. The tour will be guided by an expert sworn in by the Château.

Program:

  • Medieval origins: The château still retains the imprint of its former keep, dominating the Cour Ovale.
  • François I: The king who transformed the palace into a sumptuous Italianate château in 1528, making Fontainebleau the center of the French Renaissance.
  • His successors, Henri IV, Louis XIII, Louis XIV and Marie-Antoinette, continued the improvements and left their mark on this mythical place.
  • Napoleon I: Fontainebleau becomes an imperial palace, and bears witness to Napoleon's renovations, including the Throne Room and the captivity of Pope Pius VII.
  • The story of Napoleon I's abdication: The château was the scene of the collapse of the First Empire, with Napoleon abdicating in April 1814 and delivering his famous farewell speech in the Cour d'Honneur.
  • A testimony to past centuries: The château, a veritable “house of the centuries” according to Napoleon I, preserves an incomparable wealth of historical and artistic treasures.

After the tour, enjoy a discovery of the 130 hectares of parks and gardens:

  • Jardin Anglais, Cour de Diane, Étang aux carpes centenaires, Porte Dorée, Escalier en Fer-à-Cheval, Grottes des Pins, and much more!

Transport :

  • Train: Depart from Paris Gare de Lyon, Transilien line R direction Montereau or Montargis, stop at Gare de Fontainebleau-Avon (approx. 40 minutes).
  • Bus: At the Gare Routière, take Transdev bus no. 3401 towards “Les Lilas” and get off at the “Château” stop (15-minute journey).

 Meeting point: In front of the Cour des Adieux gate
Arrival: Plan to arrive 20 minutes before the tour in order to avoid any inconvenience.
